Bob Lutz, former vice chairman of General Motors, recently expressed his skepticism regarding the potential of Chevy's Cruze Diesel to be a "game changer" in the automotive industry. Lutz, a respected figure in the industry, believes that despite the impressive fuel efficiency and torque of the Cruze Diesel, it is unlikely to revolutionize the market.
While the Cruze Diesel boasts a remarkable EPA-estimated 52 mpg on the highway, surpassing its competitors, Lutz points out that the overall market demand for diesel vehicles in the United States remains relatively low. He argues that the prevailing preference for gasoline-powered cars, coupled with the increasing popularity of electric and hybrid vehicles, may hinder the widespread adoption of diesel technology.
